Mother's Day lunch planning all started Easter weekend with Anneke's idea of having it at my place and it being a surprise for Mom. Dad and Jonathan knew of the idea, but it was mainly us girls deciding what food and details.
I think that it was one day Ashley and Anneke talking and decided that maybe Mom should know about it just in case she too was planning something. Anneke told Mom one day and kept a BIG detail to herself to still make Mother's Day special and a surprise.
The BIG surprise was not set in stone until Saturday morning when I said the time for lunch, 1 pm. I figured that it would be enough time after we got home from Church to get food ready before Mom and Dad, Anneke and Jonathan arrived and that we all could be present to give Mom the surprise. But it didn't go quite that way, Church ran late for us as they did something for Mother's Day and for the graduates at the Church. Everyone was at the house before we got there, and so was the surprise!!
The surprise, Ashley, Pete, and Brooklyn came up for lunch!! Mom had no idea and was surprised!!! I had a hard time not spilling the beans Sunday morning while on facebook saying 'Happy Mother's Day,' I think Anneke had a hard time not saying something too!! Mom's gift was all grand-kids and kids, (well, missing Josh. Next year!?) for Mother's Day.
Even though lunch was late, it was so great to be able to see Ashley, Pete and Brooklyn for a few hours before they had to leave and head home. Knowing that we did surprise Mom just made the whole day, and was one for the books!! Not sure how we are going to top that next year. It was just so much fun, still smiling it was such a great day!!
