Nathan and Sandy (boss and wife) are boarding rescue horse (they arrived around Jacqueline's birthday (Feb. 13) give or take a few days). Now they werent bad like just skin and bones, they still had meat on them but ribs and hips were most defiantly showing. Some were worse then others, there were 3 mares (one was pregnant) 1 filly (still nursing on one of the mares, and was in the worst shape) 1 stud and 2 ponies. Well, one day we all went up to the main place with Kevin to work/hangout since it was raining and storming. Sandy wanting to look at the horses to see if she wanted to keep one as they were healthy enough to go to new homes. She didnt want any, but something special happened between the stud and Kevin. They say that a horse will choose its rider, and that is exactly what the stud did. There was a bond between the two that, well, as Kevin puts it, hard to explain. Sandy said it right away that he chose Kevin, I missed it (somewhat) as I was watching kids on the other side of the fence. Since then I have seen that bond and the stud fully trust Kevin. The stud is now ours, we own a horse!! Its exciting, I've wanted to own a horse and I know that Kevin has been wanting one for some time. Jacqueline named him Kelo, and he is beautiful!
He will become a gelding later this month (2 of the mares are now pregnant 1 pony and Sandy's mare are also pregnant from him). He wont be ready to ride until spring time, as Kevin has a lot of work to do with him. Kevin's plan for Kelo is to train him to work cows and be gentle so the kids and I can learn to ride him! That is going to be fun (of course I will be snapping pictures along the way and showing progress!).
Last Monday Mom and I surprised Jonathan's girlfriend, December, with a cake for her birthday. Jonathan was away for drill. We had this planned along with Anneke, if she was able to come up, to surprise her. Mom made cupcakes and we both decorated them, Jacqueline helped too.
Jacqueline was the designated sugar shaker! I cut marshmallows and she shook them in sugar. December was surprised, well, we called her and told her we were in town and asked when she got off. We met her in Walmart and told her that we had a cake for her! Not only did we have fun seeing December but also a fun afternoon hanging out and shopping with Mom!!
Friday was a little scary, I checked my phone to see if I had a text and saw that I had an alert. Checked it and it said that funnel clouds were spotted in the area. I immediately called Kevin and let him know, I was outside when I called and there was one to the north
The 'spike' in the center, kinda hard to see.
I called Mom as fast as I could. Talking to Mom I was feeling better, but felt much better when Mom prayed with me on the phone!! I had the kids stay in the house and I stayed outside watching the sky. The air felt weird, it was clammy feeling and there was no wind, nothing moved. The 'spikes' eventually disappeared, or the rain covered them so I couldnt see them.
I watched this cloud change in 10 minutes
This is what it changed too.
And it did have a funnel cloud in it. It started to form here but I couldnt see it, but Kevin did and he was 15 miles away.
The weird thing was that this cloud moved backwards. By the time that I went into the house it was breezy and sprinkling. I did continue to watch the sky in the house. When Kevin came home he told me that a tornado hit roughly 30 miles away. I dont think that there was any damage, just touched down and then was gone.
That next afternoon/early evening another storm hit, and I was reassured that everything was going to be fine. I had this feeling of total aww, it was just so beautiful I could have cried. Its hard to explain, but there was a rainbow in front of the storm and the rainbow began on our place and ended in the field across the road.
It really is hard to tell but it was a double rainbow!
The rainbow is going right through the broken windmill!!
Ending on that note, Hope everyone has a wonderful day! Love you all!
Such a great post. The funnel clouds and rainbows gave me a chill... God was truly looking out for y'all. Much Love keep them coming.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! What I felt when we saw the rainbow it completely unexplainable, best way to put it total aww!!
